Backup Internet

Backup internet, so a cut cable never closes your doors.

When the internet drops, card readers, online orders, phones and delivery tablets go down with it. We add a second path in, and make the switch automatic.

Who it’s for

Built for the way you actually work.

Any business that takes payments, orders or calls over the internet: restaurants and bars, retail stores, clinics, offices with VoIP phones, and multi-location brands that need every site to stay up.

Test it by pulling the plug.

A failover setup isn’t finished until someone unplugs the main line during a test transaction. We do that with you, and you watch the payment go through.

What’s included

  • Line auditWhat you have, what it costs, what equipment sits between the street and your registers, and where it can fail.
  • A truly separate second lineA backup from a different carrier and, where possible, a different kind of connection (cable and fiber, for example), so one cut doesn’t take both.
  • 4G/5G cellular backupA business cellular connection, on more than one carrier where coverage needs it, tested for signal at your address before we recommend it.
  • Satellite backup where it fitsFor locations where wired and cellular options are weak, satellite service, including Starlink, is compared on cost and coverage.
  • Automatic failover and failbackA dual-WAN router that moves traffic to the backup when the main line fails, and back again when it recovers.
  • Payments firstTraffic priority so card payments, POS sync and online orders go first, and guest WiFi waits.
  • WiFi optimizationSurvey, channel planning and access point placement, so the back of the house gets the same signal as the front.
  • Battery backupA small UPS on the modem, router and switch, so a two-second power blip doesn’t become a ten-minute network reboot.
  • Monitoring and alertsWe hear about the outage, and that the backup took over, before your manager has to call.

Do the math

What does one outage cost you?

Plug in your own numbers. This is simple arithmetic, not a sales trick: average hourly sales × hours down × outages per year.

Sales at risk each year: $6,400

Some of those customers come back later, and some never do. Either way, compare this number with the monthly cost of a backup line.

How it works

Four steps. No mystery.

  1. AuditLines, equipment, contracts and how many outages you’ve had.
  2. DesignThe right backup for your address and budget, with a clear monthly cost.
  3. Install and testFailover configured, then proven with a live unplug test.
  4. WatchMonitoring and alerts on both lines.

Questions

Straight answers.

Will card payments keep working during the switch?

In most setups, yes. Failover takes seconds to around a minute depending on the equipment, then connections resume. We test it with you before we call the job done.

Is cellular backup fast enough?

For payments, POS sync, online orders and phone calls it usually is. We check real signal strength at your address first, and pick the carrier that performs there.

Is Starlink a good backup?

It can be, especially where wired and cellular options are poor. It needs a clear view of the sky and has its own monthly cost, so we compare it against cellular for your location.

Do I need to change my main internet provider?

Usually not. The backup sits alongside what you already have. If your main line is the problem, we will tell you and help you switch.

What does it cost?

It depends on the backup type and the carrier: equipment, a monthly line or data plan, and our setup. You get the full monthly number in writing before anything is installed.
